Today was supposed to be the postponed semifinal of our Matchplay Tournament (not the Matchplay League), last time we tried to play it, Daniel and I were in different flights. This time around we had set up a tee time at GC Prenden, today at 2.10 pm. But well, it didn’t go down because Daniel chickened out, writing me an SMS last night and declaring me the winner. I still went to the golf course to play the round, and well, four bogeys and three pars on the friggin front nine alone, I would have given Daniel helluva battle.
Playing alone, I was waved through by the flights in front of me on holes 5, 7, and 9, on the 11th I was joined by a couple who cut short after the eight, so I finished the round with Manfred and his wife Margarethe, really nice people.
We all wondered about the clothing of the people on the 9 hole course, as they played in cocktail dresses and the guys wore white shirt, black tie or even white dinner jacket. A golf cart was circulating on the course with cocktail shaker, providing the players with vodka martinis after each holes:
It turned out that they were playing a tournament called “Martini Cup”, being the second tournament of the Bowler Tour (I wrote about their Caddie Cup earlier), they surely had their piece of fun. The players party will take place at the Münz-Club, so the party continues in style. Oh, and all players got to the course and back via shuttle bus, so ‘drunk driving’ only happened on the golf course.
