K-Club to ban cameras

Fans attending the 36th Ryder Cup at the K Club in Ireland next month will have to take a sketchbook with them if they want to grab some memories of the scenes taking place there.

It was announced today that all cameras and cameraphones will be banned from the premises “to ensure that the matches take place without the risk of disturbance to the players”. What a dumb idea!

To ensure that they should also ban people from sneezing, farting, burping and whack the obnoxious “get in the hole”-shouter with a 5 iron. I admit camera-clicking can be annoying but so can be walking around in the back of the galleries when a player is making his tee shot or. But it won’t stop people from bringing their cameras to the tournament.

Same thing at the Deutsche Bank Players Championship several weeks ago. Cameras were not allowed on the premises, but with no one controlling the people at the entrance, there were cameras all over the place. I took pictures myself, but always watched out not to disturb a players swing or swing preparation. The show is for the spectators after all.

What do you think about this K Club regulation? Pro or con? Speak to me!

Fastest European Tour victory

Well, if this isn’t an achievement that shouldn’t go unnoticed amidst all the mMajor news: the young spaniard Alejandro Canizares – son of four time Ryder Cup player José Maria Canizares won last weeks Russian Open and by doing so threw down the marker for the fastest european tour victory. It was only his third tourney on the tour. Does anyone know how long it took Tiger to win his first?

Hotel and Golf Course, anyone?

Germany’s Clubhaus AG sells their unfinished project in Berlin Seeburg, hotel and 18 hole golf course have been planned there as their fifth resort in Germany.

Seems that they reconsidered their plans. Their resort would have been the 20th in the Berlin-Brandenburg area, a pretty saturated market when you look at the numbers of active golfers in the area: 14.649 to be exact. Suppose they all would be members in clubs in the area, that’ll make 771 per club. Some clubs have to support 27 to 63 holes on these member figures, not the easiest task, if you’d ask me.

Medinah Quotes

“This is sweet. This is really sweet.”
Tiger Woods is better at golf than he is at expressing himself, though on the face of it these words probably sum it up nicely.

“I didn’t exactly feel as comfortable as I may have looked.”
Pull the other one Tiger

“I had one of those days where I felt like I could make any putt. I had some bombs out there.”
That’s more like it Tiger, old son.

“He’s just too good. Unless you’re at the top of your game, you just can’t play with him.”
Shaun Micheel says what most players try to avoid saying, but we know what they’re thinking.

“Tiger just doesn’t back up. He doesn’t let anybody get close to him, especially in the last round.”
Steve Stricker says the same thing, just in a different way.

“It will happen eventually. It’s going to happen. I mean, he’s not going to be 68 years old and in the final round of a major and tied for the lead and he wins.”
Sergio Garcia reveals that he thinks he might have to wait until he is 64 before he finally wins his first major title.

“I felt like I played okay but got zero out of my game. I felt like I played better than my score.”
Luke Donald tries to look on the bright side after becoming the latest bunny to stare wide-eyed in the Woods tail-lights.

“I’m in the wars.”
David Howell blames his final-round 82 on a shoulder problem.
