Wii Golf

Wii Golf

Nintendo’s new console Wii will be available in stores in Germany as of 8th December. Sneak previews are availabe at so-called Wii cribs in Berlin, Hamburg and Munich. I know some people that know some people that provided me with a number to call to make an appointment and get directions.

Pieter and I checked out the games included in the Wii sports DVD: Baseball, Tennis, Boxing, Bowling and Golf of course. You play the games holding a controller in your hand and make the moves with the controller, a sensor measures it and puts your character in action. Baseball is the hardest to play, when you box, you have a second controller in your hand as you throw punches at your opponent, pretty arbitrary but fun. I was glad that nobody watched us as we did this.

Cejka on the bubble

Alex Cejka is currently fighting at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament to get his tour card for 2007. After four rounds he is in tied 31st place (scoreboard). After the end of the six round tournament, the top 30 players and ties will get their tour card. After rounds of 73, 66, 70 and 74 he needs to come up with another round in the sixties to get things done. Obviously he gets better along with the easier Nicklaus Tournament Course than the Stadium Course at PGA West in LaQuinta. Let’s keep fingers crossed for him. He has his European Tour card secured, but I don’t think we will see him over in Europe for the next year!

Edit I: With five holes to go in his sixth round, Alex is -3 for the round and -10 for the tournament. He currently is in T27th position and just about to make it. He better not lose a stroke though.

Edit II: Alex pulled it of, with a final round of -4 he ends up in tied 22nd and qualifies for yet another year on the PGA tour. Congratulations.
