Tournament preparations

Sunday will see my – as well as Tylers – start into the tournament season at Golfclub Motzen. I haven’t played a full round yet this year, so I’ll probably go out for an early start tomorrow morning and hit GC Prenden or GC Pankow for a practice round.

I’ve been thinking back and forth about my game for the tourney as I haven’t practiced a lot the last weeks and my game still is rusty. It cannot get worse than last year where I played 15 net points for the whole tourney in Semlin.

Strategywise it would be the best to play irons only, trying to keep it on the fairway, playing the shots I know I can play and not giving myself into the hit and hope-principle. I haven’t checked yet, but with my current 26,3 handicap I should be able to allow myself the one or other double bogey without making too much damage. Report will follow!

Baden-Württemberg Open 2007

Apparently, this tournament format is common in Sweden and other countries, it is the first time I heard about it in Germany though. The Baden-Württemberg Open 2007 is a tournament in which amateurs can compete against pros. To be eligible for the tournament as an amateur, you have to play a handicap of no greater than -2,0. From the pro side, Tino Schuster (you’ll probably remember him from the 2006 British Open where he was leading in round 2) already signaled his participation. Apart from him participants will be golf professionals, top amateurs and invited amateurs.

The tournament will be held at the Drei Thermen Golfresort from 28.05.2007 to the 31.05.2007, the event is supported both by the PGA Baden-Württemberg and the Golfverband Baden-Württemberg. The winning purse will be EUR 20.000.
