Ochoa passes Sorenstam for No. 1 ranking

We’ve seen it coming over the past year, but now that it is official, it still sounds a little surprising: Mexican Lorena Ochoa has ousted Annika Sorenstam as world number one for the first time since the official rankings were introduced in February last year. The rankings are decided on a rolling two-year calendar with each player’s points total divided by the number of the tournaments played.

Congratulations to Lorena and get well soon to Annika, she is currently recovering from an injury but intends to return by the U.S. Open in June.
