Oldie but Goldie

Whatever pills Bernhard Langer is taking, I want some of them. After shooting a 76 on day one of the BMW International Open, he was 11 shots behind the leader. Then he puts down rounds of 66, 68, 67 and ends up in second place for the tournament, just two shots behind the leader.

Personally, I feel a little sad that he is moving over to the Champions Tour at the end of this season. He has been playing a helluva season so far and showed that he can still mingle with the young guns on both the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

There were 14 german players in the field, only two saw the weekend and the oldest one of them contends for the victory. It was good to see Sven Strüver in rising form again. And guys like Martin Kaymer or Marcel Siem will continue to make their way on the tour. But it will take them a long way until they achieve Langer-status.

I’m looking forward to following him around the course again at the Deutsche Bank Players Championship at Gut Kaden, just like last year. Even if that means to get up at 6:30 on a sunday morning.

There, there. ;) It’s not like he’s not going to play on the regular tour any longer. He’s only only old enough to play on the Champion’s tour – think Fred Funk or Craig Stadler!

We’ll see… Thomas.

Say something!
