Mediawise, golf is as popular as indoor-flea-races one might guess looking at the broadcast times and media exposure it gets. Unless you have pay-TV you won’t even notice that tournaments are being played. My small category Golf TV shows all there is on TV in germany. It doesn’t look better in the newspapers.

Well, it looks as there maybe a salvation. Starting September 1st, golfdigital.tv launches the first golf-related IPTV-service in Germany. Tournament coverage, series, golf classics, training videos are the bundle one gets for the – introductory – monthly price of € 4,90. Live coverage may be also possible this year, broadcast rights are being negotiated.

Besides the TV portal (see above) there will be a community platform on the website that can be accessed free. Let’s hope it will be more active than other attempts, it will also have to hold up against established forums and groups.

But as for the TV part, I am highly interested and really hope that it will fill the gap in the broadcasting landscape.
