Whilst the german men on the European Tour still look for a possible successor for Bernhard Langer to be a contender for titles, the german women already have two tour winners this year.
After the current number one on the Ladies European Tour Bettina Hauert – having won twice this year – last weekend Martina Eberl celebrated her maiden victory winning the Madrid Ladies Masters ahead of Sophie Gustafson.
The 100.000 Euro prize money propelled Eberl from position 33 in the Ladies Order of Merit to the 8th position. Apart from that, Martina also won the special valuation called “The 18 Finest”. The 18 Finest is a unique competition where two holes are selected from nine venues on the 2007 LET schedule to create a fantasy course of 18 holes. In each of these events, scores carded in each round on two designated holes count towards the leaderboard. Eberl was invited to play in Madrid on account of her position on The 18 Finest leaderboard.
