A mixed weekend for german golfers

A remarkable weekend it was for the german golfers, in a positive and not so positive way. Let’s start with the best news: Bernhard Langer won his first tournament on the Champions Tour – the Administaff Small Business Classic – in such an impressive manner, that he has his opponents on the tour in awe: “It’s not often you shoot 17 under for the week, Mark O’Meara said, and LOSE by eight shots.”

Check out his scorecard:

Playing rounds of 62, 65 and 64 he not only set the course record at the Augusta Pines course, his 25-under 191 tied the all-time 54-hole Champions Tour record. He only allowed himself one bogey in the entire tournament. You really have to watch out for Bernhard if he continues playing like that. Congratulations.

On the European Tour, Sven Strüver and Martin Kaymer had good starts into the tournament, but couldn’t keep a steady pace to give them better results.

Especially Martin blew his chances on two holes, #6 and number #7 where he picked up 7 shots alone. He ended up T25 at -4, a -11 would have propelled him into T4. As we know, there are no ifs and buts in golf. But Martin still and definitely is the best Challenge Tour Graduates on the Order of Merit this year. Valderrama, here he comes.

Bettina Hauert probably had the toughest weekend. She gets invited to the Samsung World Championships as the leader of the European Order of Merit and then probably plays the four crappiest rounds of her career.

I mean, Michelle Wie played horribly and shot +18 for the tourney, Bettina added one more stroke to her scorecard and ended at +19, 37 strokes behind winner Lorena Ochoa. Maybe it was just one of those weeks, where everything goes wrong and you just should completely forget about it.
