Get your ass moving!

Before I go, I would like to talk about slow play. It’s been an ongoing problem on the PGA Tour for a long time. I honestly believe the pace of play is faster in Europe and Japan. It has been suggested offenders be penalized with strokes. The problem is, you may get one guy that slows down a group for playing at a snails pace and gets them all put on the clock, which isn’t fair. I know this is a complicated issue. Hopefully it can be addressed in the near future.

Tiger Woods on slow play on the PGA Tour in his latest newsletter. So this is not only an issue in amateur tournaments this side of the pond…

Golf Nuts

There are approximately 15 members of the Golf Nut Society here in Germany. How big are the chances of two of them being paired in one flight in a tournament? You take your guess.

At yesterdays ICE OPEN not only was I in one flight with the Foreman, but also with Alexander S., who saw my Golf Nut bag tag and thus we found out that we’re both members of the club. Hilarious!

We had loads of fun around the course, Alexander and Denis played great golf, I had a wild mixture from pars to triple-bogeys. But hey, the main thing was the good cause, right?

Ice Open 2008

Last year, the Snow Golf World Cup marked the beginning of my tournament season. This year, I’ll start a month later but with another fun event: the Ice Open 2008 that will be held at my home club Gut Kaden.

I guess there will be no ice as we will have temperatures up to 10°C, so #9 will still be an island green and the lake will be unplayable. Rumor has it that yours truly will be paired in one flight with the mighty Foreman Denis. Now that promises fun!

We will keep you posted!

The day I fell in love with Spyglass Hill

Today I played Spyglass Hill for the first time. Unfortunately not in real but only on the golf simulator. It still was a blast, the course design and hole setup, everything. To play this course in reality must be stunning.

Plus I played great golf, I shot 46 on the front nine and 50 on the back nine, even birdeing the last hole. 96 on a course with a slope rating of 148 and a course rating of 75.8, I consider that pretty good for a 26 handicapper like me. Ok, I doubt that I would be capable of repeating that on the real course, but for tonight I am my personal hero!
