Ostsee Golf Resort Wittenbeck: Eikhof Course
In 2005 we already played at Wittenbeck. Back then, it was a cosy and nice 9 hole course. Plans to enlargen the course to its present 27 holes had already been made.
In the late summer of 2007, the new courses “Eikhof” and “Höstingen” were opened. Höstingen ist the remodeled and shortened 9 hole course, whilst Eikhof is the new championship course.
The clubhouse and tees 1 and 10 are on top of the hill, the whole course slopes down towards the baltic sea. Strong westerly winds are almost always present. We were faced with horrible weather, windy and rainy. The course was soaked as it had been raining quite a bit in the past weeks. Not the best situation to take pictures that do the course justice:

The course will need some time to grow in. The greens were very dull , the grass was long, but that is all manageable with good greenkeeping. An interesting layout with undulated fairways and greens, lots of water hazards, blind shots, paired with the strong winds and a view of the baltic sea add up to the courses potential. We had to abort our round after 12 holes due to the horrible weather (there was even snow), but I’ll definitely return in summer to repeat my round. The course is worth it.
The course totals 6.015 meters from the mens tees and has a slope of 134 and a CR of 72,4. Greenfees are between 45,00 to 50,00 € (weekdays / weekends).

Ich hab...
Nächste Woche wollte ich dort auch mit Freunden spielen. Ich bin wegen des Wetters einfach Optimist. Die alten 9 Loch kenne ich schon. Letztes Jahr habe ich sogar für 1 € pro Loch die provisorischen 6 Loch gespielt. Ich frage mich nur, ob sich das Greenfee für die neuen 18 jetzt schon lohnt, oder ob wir noch etwas warten sollten.
Das Greenfee ist fair und lohnt sich sicherlich bereits jetzt für die 18 Loch. Es spielt sich sicherlich netter bei weniger beschissenem Wetter als wir es hatten!

Ich habe auch vor einer Weile den Neun-Loch-Platz gespielt und fand ihn eher fade. Die Aussicht von der Kuppe war allerdings sehr schön. Ich nehme mal an, die neuen Bahnen und Grüns sind einfach eine ganze Klasse besser. Ich versuche mir allerdings im Kopf auszumalen, wohin sie sich ausgedehnt haben. Dazu werde ich wohl der Einfachheit halber mal wieder hinfahren müssen. Nur eine Nacht in diesem formidablen Hotel in Heiligendamm – das war sowieso zu kurz.
Der neue Platz ist von der Kuppe runter Richtung Ostsee gebaut worden. Vom alten 9-Loch-Platz wurden einige Bahnen umgebaut und sind nun Teil des großen Platzes. Im aktuellen Golfmagazin ist der Eikhof-Platz als einer der heissen neuen Hoffnungen beschrieben. Mal schauen, wie sich der Platz in den kommenden Jahren bewährt.
