Korean Invasion

Since years I play the Prenden golf course for my casual weekend round. In the beginning, I always called in beforehand for a tee time and every time the reply was “just come and play”. So I stopped calling in. Yesterday morning – after our son woke us up as ever at 06:30 – I decided to go out for some 18 holes in Prenden.

Arriving at the course at 07:45 I was surprised about all the action going on. The clubhouse was already open, the pro was giving his first lesson and the parking lot was filling up fast. Wanting to pay my greenfee, the club secretary asked me if I had reserved a tee time. The surprised look on my face clearly signaled: “In five years I never had to reserve a tee time here and it is not even 08:00 on a sunday morning! No, I don’t have a tee time!”

Well, it turned out that a bunch of about 30 Koreans had booked the 18 hole course for a private tournament starting at 08:00. Which meant, that I had to settle for the 9 hole course. And guess what? I had two korean flights ahead of me. Where did they all come from? And why do they all get up so early on the weekends?
