1Golf1

I just bumped into 1Golf1, which is an online tee time booking service. It offers tee times not only germanywide but internationally, 1.665 courses shall be available. You can enter your desired tee time and region via the search form and optionally also the desired green fee you want to pay. I tested that with a EUR 10 green fee and it still listed me Berlin Wannsee as a possible golf club here in Berlin. I would doubt that result.

But apart from that, I wouldn’t necessarily use that to find a golf club in my area, as I know most of them and their green fees. But when you’re travelling, this should give you a good and quick overview about golf venues in you individual location.

The website is also available in english, but somehow they forgot to translate all the text, on some pages only the headlines are in english whilst the rest is still german. But I’m sure they are working on it. As well as they should work on the website design, but thats another subject.
Apart from booking tee times you can also search for hotels, golf pros, tournaments and golf holidays. When you register as a member, you can get special tee time offers via E-Mail and SMS. Let’s see how special these offers are, I’ll keep you posted

Golf Week

Golf Week started three years ago in Austria as an ambitious publishing project. Most golf titles are being published on a monthly basis, but Golf Week is positioned as a Golf newspaper and comes out every week during the season (April to October).

Distribution started last week in over 600 golfclubs in germany, so far free of charge. Later on a subscription-based distribution is being planned.

So what could be the USP of yet another golf publication? I haven’t had one in my hand so far and cannot judge the journalistic quality. But they sure could fill in on the lack of reports on the pro tours in traditional newspapers here in germany. Put the aspects on sport and not on lifestyle and you may have a new reader in me. But they sure have some work to do on their website.

10 Questions for Michelle Wie

A couple of weeks ago, I met the Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and I thought she was really amazing. I look up to her because she’s a really strong woman. I can’t believe I played nine holes with her. She was kind of a beginner, but she was pretty athletic. She actually hit her driver really well. She liked hitting her driver. Anyway, I don’t really remember everything. It was such a blur, and I was like, “Oh my God, it’s the Secretary of State.” They put me in charge of driving her around [in the golf cart]. I was like, If I crash, the Secretary of State goes down with me.

Read the full story here.  And what is the big deal with the Rush Limbaugh story anyway?
