Social Media Monitoring is one of the things I’m dealing with on my (main) job. But sometimes you can put it to good use when it comes to the personal interests.
So I had a look at the buzz in the social web following Martin Kaymers victory yesterday. “Martin Kaymer” received 4.158 mentions this month, 3.067+ in the last 24 hours alone
Here’s the general stats.

The share of voice is dominated by Twitter. This is no surprise as most (social) media sources post to twitter when having written something new or discussion takes places on twitter itself:

The geo heat map shows a vast interest in Germany, the UK and Canada,. The USA are only in fourth place although the most heard question in the US on Twitter probably was “Who the hell is Martin Kaymer?”

And apparently Martins victory sparked a huge interest in his girlfriend Alison Micheletti, as her name is the most searched related topic.
The European Tour pulled together some impressive statistics about Kaymer after his victory at the Scottish Open.
An average of 27 putts per round over the 72 holes was bettered only by Nick Dougherty, finishing down in 76th, whereas Fernanzez-Castaño was 32nd for the same category, averaging 29 putts per round, and Frenchman Jacquelin was 17th with 28.2 putts.
About his career:
Pretty impressive for a 24 year old, don’t you think?
Today I played Spyglass Hill for the first time. Unfortunately not in real but only on the golf simulator. It still was a blast, the course design and hole setup, everything. To play this course in reality must be stunning.
Plus I played great golf, I shot 46 on the front nine and 50 on the back nine, even birdeing the last hole. 96 on a course with a slope rating of 148 and a course rating of 75.8, I consider that pretty good for a 26 handicapper like me. Ok, I doubt that I would be capable of repeating that on the real course, but for tonight I am my personal hero!

Looking at the current European Order of Merit, I think that Martin Kaymer has some good company.
After finishing T7 at the French Open – teamed up in the final round with Colin Montgomerie – he made the biggest purse of his young career yet. Congratulations!

Ok, my 63 holes in 15 hours do not quite match what some of my fellow Golf Nuts just achieved:
At midnight on June 19, 2007, a foursome of certifiable members of the Golf Nut Society, broke the Guinness World Record for the Most Holes Played by a Four Ball in a 24-hour period. The golf nuts played 195 holes in just under 21 hours. The old Guinness record was 180 holes in 24 hours. The record will be made “official” within the next three weeks when the Guinness book completes the audit of the scorecards, witness statements and course yardage.
“It was grueling, and in the worst conditions you can imagine,” recounted Donovan of their round at Dragon Ridge Golf Club in Henderson, Nevada, USA. “We played in 25-30 mph winds and a high temperature of 107 degrees, with a low of only 99 degrees.”
The foursome also broke two Golf Nut Society records:
1. Most Holes played at night: 53 (old record 18)
2. Fastest 18 Holes by a foursome in a cart: 1:25:06 (old record: 1 hour, 33 minutes by a twosome!)
Rang.
